Me & My Dad

I will so be using these two pictures in my Montage that I am going to make for Jesse for Father's Day!!! Aren't they adorable together! Joshua wants to be just like Daddy!

Just Like Dad

My baby is getting so big so fast!!! He wants to do everything that Daddy is doing at every moment! So, of course while Daddy was outside burning brush, Joshua had to be there too.

Isn't he cute in his Carhartts?

Here he is proving to Daddy that he is big enough to throw things into the fire.

Ruggedly handsome!

And here we are all punked out. Hat backwards, baggy pants, punk walk...he's got it all!

Doesn't look so mean and determined here, does he???

Where Daddy At?

Joshua is starting to talk soooo much more now! The last three mornings I have moved him from his bed to mine for a few minutes(it gives me a little while to wake up). Each morning, he sits down in my bed and says "mommy, where daddy at?" It's like it's not normal for Daddy to be gone in the mornings. My answer is always "Daddy's at work, buddy". This morning, before I could answer. Joshua said "Mommy, where Daddy at? Daddy go work". I couldn't help but laugh.

No Pictures...Just Me

Anyone else ever get into a funk? I am so there! I can't get my house clean. I can't make my child behave. I can't convince my husband do put that stupid pig in a pen! I can't really get into my Bible study for Women's Bible Study. I just feel like saying "oh well, it will be here tomorrow". As many of you know, I don't like things that I can't control....there seem to be so many of those things lately. Tim and Shannon lost their precious baby. Angie lost her mom. Jesse's Grandpa is going to go to Heaven soon. Sami is having a terrible time in TX with work. Cynetta hasn't felt well for her entire pregnancy thus far.

All of these things...there is nothing that I can do about them. All I can do is pray. I have to remember what Philippians 4:6 says-"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God". 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says "pray without ceasing" and that is what I must do. I know that all things work for good for those who love God but sometimes it is so hard for me to see the good in some situations. However, I am not God and His ways are not my ways. I know that in all things there is a greater plan and a while from now, I will look back and be able to see the plan that God had for the lives of my friends. For now though, I will just have to keep praying.

This post is really for me more than any of you but I have always heard two things about prayer that I would like to share.

1. You can't continue to hate someone you are praying for.
2. It's hard to be depressed about something when you put it in the hands of the One with the master plan.

The Good Egg Hunt

We decided that since the first one was such a bust, we would take Joshua on Easter Sunday to Mom and Dad's church and let him hunt eggs with the kids there. He was the smallest one there and he had a blast!

Here are all the kids on the starting line, waiting ever so patiently.

Joshua decided that he was going to go ahead and go. None of the other kids seemed to have a problem with that. As a mom, sometimes I struggle with the "let them do it themselves" aspect of things. I want to hurry him along and let him get lots of eggs. However, he did just fine on his own and still ended up with WAY too much candy.

Look at the eggs! Now, this is an egg hunt!

Here is Daddy overseeing what's going on.

Joshua has already finished hunting and has handed off the basket and now, he wants to socialize.

Worst Egg Hunt EVER!

So, we took Joshua to a local egg hunt. It was supposed to be HUGE! We invited Noah and Timmy to go too. It turned out to be a major bust! I am just very glad that the kids weren't really old enough to know how bad it was. All three kids were in the age group for 1-3 year olds. They had like a 12 ft. by 24 ft. area with eggs in it. When all was said and done, there had been enough eggs there for each kid to get 1 to 2 eggs. It was a very sad display. I called the place that put it on and let them know that I was disappointed in how it worked out. I think they were anticipating that because it was cold, the little kids wouldn't be out and in fact, there were more 1-3 year olds than any other age group. I felt bad that Cynetta had rushed to get there for Noah to get 2 eggs. I think I am a firm believer now in just doing our own egg hunt. If we do our own, it also opens the door for us to explain the trinity using the three parts of the egg as a visualization.....Father, Son, Holy Spirit...three parts...one egg.

Here is my little buddy, all bundled up and looking for the non-existent eggs.

...and looking...

...and looking...

..."dude, did you get anything?"

Very disappointed.

After the freezing adventure, here we are in the car trying to warm up.
